Origins

Not from the Source... her origins are unknown. Before she was 'Mergaux', she was a different local Rak Tikkan viera. She had died in a hunting party and was resurrected, but she came back different and with a faulty memory, unsure of who she really was. The spirit that possessed her body was from a different Shard, flitting too close to the surface of the aetherial sea and possessed too strong of will to simply float along the surface. She is an adept white mage, but was kicked out of various adventuring parties as a wandering healer because while her healing was potent and effective, it caused immense pain.

Shadowbringers

Her memories and sense of self are foggy and faulty. The Rak Tikkan viera before her was a quiet yet fiesty white mage, one that joined the hunting parties often in Fanow. There was a core of braveness within her despite her timid nature. The possessing soul was also incredibly brave and extremely adept with magic and aether. They must have been smaller and mousier than the viera before because as her soul settled in mixing with the remnants of the inhabitant before, her appearance changed. She began to get shorter, their ears shrinking and rounding, her previous rabbit tail enlongating to look more similar to a Miqo'te's.

They met up with the notorious Warriors of Darkness when they arrived to Rak Tikka to quell the Lightwarden plauging the area. Before their arrival, she stalked them as they made their way to Fanow from Slitherborough. She had heard of the Night's Blessed, even did business with them from Fanow. She knew Master Matoya before she became Y'shtola. Master Matoya kept an eye on Mergaux, predicting her peculiar condition before she was able to even understand it herself. Master Matoya kept her thoughts and observations to herself, slowly putting the big picture altogether. It helped Y'shtola later collaborate with the Exarch and Urianger with regards to research on the Source and its' corresponding Shards.

She joined the party on their journey to Il Mheg, infinitely teased and amused by the pixies. Once Mergaux began acting as a secondary healer, she returned to the Crystarium with them in their path. This is where she made friends with the librarian.

Endwalker

When Master Matoya leaves the Rak Tikkan forests, there was an administrative void to fill. She takes care of the Night's Blessed alongside Runar. She bears the title Master Mergaux in honor of Master Matoya before her. Runar is her right hand and is also one of the most important figures amongst the Night's Blessed.
